Reading and understanding terms of service and privacy policies before accepting them online is becoming easier thanks to artificial intelligence. That is the mission behind Termzy AI, a browser extension founded by Giulio Pavesi, an Italian student currently in Amsterdam.

The extension uses AI to automatically analyze websites’ terms of service, conditions of use, and privacy policies while users browse online, highlighting critical points and summarizing content in simple, accessible language.

We accept terms and conditions every day without reading them, but this carelessness can have real consequences,” explains Pavesi. “By registering on many websites, users often unknowingly consent to the sale of their personal data to third parties, exposing themselves to risks such as spam, data redlining, or highly disadvantageous contractual conditions — from copyright transfers to symbolic refund limits, such as €100 for any damage suffered.

The browser extension has now been updated with two new features: it automatically identifies the five most relevant clauses of an online contract and includes an integrated AI chatbot that allows users to ask personalised questions directly to the policy.

We implemented these features to provide users with even more insight into the binding contracts they enter into online every day, so they can make more informed decisions,” says Pavesi.

The updated extension is now available on Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi.

We have been pleased to see the wide international recognition around Termzy AI, as our tool has been featured in major publications such as Wired and Associated Press,” Pavesi says. “This reinforces our commitment to the vision behind the project.

Beyond the browser extension itself, the broader goal of Termzy AI is to build a suite of tools and services dedicated to helping consumers and enterprises collect, manage, and better understand the digital contracts they agree to online every day, often without even realizing it.

We are soon going to release enterprise solutions that will offer tools for employers, legal teams, and procurement officers to understand, manage, and collect the digital contracts they sign every day,” explains Pavesi. “Additionally, companies will be able to certify their terms and policies with Termzy AI, displaying a badge that reinforces user trust and potentially influences purchasing behavior.

When people receive a contract by email, they usually read it carefully, request changes, or even ask a lawyer to review it. Yet every day, users agree to extremely long online contracts with international companies - contracts that can have a major impact on their lives.

If more people truly begin to understand what they accept online, digital companies will be pushed to offer more transparent and balanced conditions,” Pavesi concludes.

Termzy AI is available on the Chrome Web Store.
